Mindy Upin, Rehearsal Director for the Steps Repertory Ensemble, is originally from the Chicagoland area. She received her BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and has danced in and choreographed music videos, musicals, and original concert dance pieces. Along with her choreographic partner, Lindsey Kelley, Mindy produced her first independent show The Ratio of Mindsey to Kelpin in both Chicago, IL and Asheville, NC. Their work was also seen this year on tour in the 2011-2012 North Carolina Dance Festival. Mindy was recognized by Dance Magazine with an ENews exclusive interview and showcased as a style model. She has been a guest teaching artist at New York's Dance New Amsterdam, Peridance Capezio Center, Chelsea's Hudson Guild for young children, as well as throughout Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, and even South Africa. Currently, Mindy dances for the Steps Repertory Ensemble, Trainor Dance Company, teaches frequently at Steps on Broadway and at theMcCarton Center for Developmental Pediatrics in Manhattan for children with special needs.
