Originally from Toronto, Karen began her training at the Claude Watson School for the Arts.
While continuing her training at the Toronto Dance Theatre and the Randolph Dance Theatre,
she received her Bachelor's degree from Ryerson University. After moving to New York, she
furthered her studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Karen has worked with such
companies as Earl Mosley's Diversity in Dance, the Mantis Dance Project, Canboulay Dance Theatre,
and had the honor of working with such choreographers as Ronald K. Brown, Earl Mosley and
Tony winner Hinton Battle. Currently she is a faculty member at Steps on Broadway, Ballet
Hispanico and New Dance Group and has had the opportunity to guest teach and choreograph across
the U.S. and abroad, including Canada, Mexico, Bolivia and Italy. On screen, she has also had
the opportunity to work in films with such actors as Academy award winner Louis Gossett Jr. and
Tony award winner Betty Buckley. As artistic director of Xodus Dance Collective, Karen's had the
opportunity to showcase her choreography at such venues as: Evolving Arts Theatre, Steps on
Broadway, Uptown Performance Series, Recreo Theatro, Aaron Davis Hall and PMT Festival Showcase.
Karen is also the choreographer of Deante Dance, a series of modern dance based fitness videos,
and Street Fusion an instructional street jazz and hip hop DVD.
