Allison Jay originally of Lakeland, Florida trained with Florida Dance Theatre
and the Harrison Performing Arts School. She spent summers on full scholarship at
Southern Ballet School , The Joffrey Ballet School and Hartford Ballet School. She
danced professionally with the Hartford Ballet while under the direction of Kirk
Peterson, Michael Smuin's of Smuin Ballets, Ballet Met under the direction of Gerard
Charles, and the first National tour of the Broadway show Movin' Out. She has performed
works by such notable choreographers as Balanchine, Michael Smuin, Kirk Peterson, Graham
Lustig, Dwight Rhoden, Stanton Welch, Doug Varrone, Heinz Poll, Adam Miller, and Twyla Tharp.
Allison is a certified Gyrokinesis® instructor. She has trained under master trainer
Leda Franklin at Gyrotonic® New York. Allison continues to broaden her Gyrotonic training as s
he will soon complete her Gyrotonic certification and then begin advanced specialty coursework.
Allison has experienced such positive changes in her own strength and flexibility through the
Gyrotonic® method that she enjoys sharing it with others.
