Shea Sullivan's dance training began at the age of 5 in Miami, Florida with Mary Linick Tridico. She pursued her studies in the South Florida area with such notables as June Taylor, Judy Ann Bassing, Danie Beck, Beatrice LaVerne, Ronn Daniels and Debbie Dee. At the age of twelve she met her mentor, Henry LeTang, while visiting New York. She began the intense study of Tap with Mr. LeTang and has enjoyed a long term relationship with him as his student, protégé and assistant. Shea was the assistant choreographer to Mr. LeTang in a Showtime Movie, Bojangles, which stars Gregory Hines. She was also the Tap Foliest on the film.
The opportunity to work closely with such a renowned teacher and choreographer such as Henry LeTang, Shea has developed her own love for teaching. Shea teaches several forms of dance, all levels. Shea has served as a Panelist and Tap Master Teacher for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and has taught for the Showstoppers Dance Convention Circuit as well as New York City Dance Alliance, NNDA, Winterfest Dance Convention, DMA conventions and has given Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre workshops, private lessons and teacher workshops throughout the country and abroad. Her choreography for dance studios throughout the country has won many top honors and Shea choreographed a routine for the US team which won the gold medal at the IDO Tap Dance World Championships in Germany. Her teaching has been showcased on both the WB 11 and PBS.
Currently working as a stage, film and television Choreographer in NYC, Shea has been described as "dynamic," "multitalented," and "one of the best new Choreographers working today." Shea is a member of The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
Gregory Hines had this to say about Shea Sullivan: "Shea Sullivan is part of the new breed of tap dancer/choreographer, who can dazzle with speed or funk....but she also has her roots in the great back in the day classic style of masters like Henry LeTang and Eleanor Powell. Shea can do it all."
