With half of the crew already related, the twins, Antwain and Anthony Hart are cousins to Codie Wiggins, it almost seemed destined for these seven dancers to come join forces. After two years of training together in the Atlanta, GA dance community, they decided to create a dance crew with the other four members specifically for MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew". Although, they did not win the show, they did end up being one of the show's respected top four crews.

Since the show, JUNGLE BOOGIE CREW has been traveling the country performing and teaching workshops and master classes as a way to give thanks for the thousands of fans that they acquired throughout their run on the show.

STEPS will be honored at the FLO-BERT AWARDS CEREMONY on May 30th for its contribution to the field of tap. Tap Faculty members LYNN SCHWAB will be performing a tribute and BARBARA DUFFY will be presenting the plaque to Steps Co-Artistic/Managing Director DIANE GRUMET.

Congratulations to. . .ALL THE FACULTY, STAFF & DANCERS who performed in the Faculty in Performance 2010 concert this past weekend. MARC DI MINNO (Musician) & MYSTEENA SAUNDERS (Admin) for their performance at JASA Senior Center. Marc performed classical and American standards and Mysteena sang opera. Thanks to all the artists that participated this year in our first season at JASA. . .STEPS REPERTORY ENSEMBLE, THE SCHOOL AT STEPS, VLADIMIR & MARIA, and the METZGER BROTHERS (Adam, Jack & Ryan).

International travelers . . .CHARLES GODDERTZ (Tap Faculty) heading to Guadalajara from 6/11 to 6/17 to teach & perform; DANA MOORE (Theater Dance Faculty) going to Nice, Cyprus, Oslo, and to Jacobs Pillow to teach, choreograph and perform from 6/18 - 8/23. Steps Ensemble members SARA HOENES and KYLE MULLINS along with Ensemble Artistic Director CLAIRE LIVINGSTONE are in South Africa working on a collaboration with IKAPA Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company in Cape Town, and Global Arts Initiative, a nonprofit that promotes collaboration, cultural exchange and scholarships in the arts. Sara, Kyle and Claire will be working with the dancers on a new piece to premiere in South Africa in October, as well as working alongside IKAPA dancers in their community outreach program that teaches dance to children in the townships.

Director/Choreographer ALAN ONICKEL (Tap Faculty) will be presenting Miles of Styles: Celebrating Classic Styles of Jazz & Tap. Sat, 6/5 @ 7:00pm & Sun 6/6 @ 1:00 & 6:00pm.
