CANYON RANCH
has teamed up with the STEPS ON BROADWAY and CAPEZIO
to present two dance intensives designed for dancers and non-dancers to explore the art form
through classes, discussion and behind-the-scene experiences. The ballet intensive will be taught
by Lisa Lockwood and the musical theater intensive by Tony Stevens, both members of STEPS on
Broadway's world-renowned faculty.
The intensives include:
Opening reception on Thursday
Four classes (two on Friday and two on Saturday)
A discussion with faculty on personal experiences performing and teaching
A gift from Capezio for the first 25 participants
MEET YOUR BALLET HOST, Lisa Lockwood
Originally from Los Angeles, Lisa was a member of American Ballet Theater for 10 years,
where her most notable roles included the Cow Girl in Agnes De Mille's Rodeo and Amour
in Baryshnikov's Don Quixote. While at Ballet Theatre she also danced solos by guest
choreographers including George Balanchine, Paul Taylor Jerome Robbins, Anthony Tudor,
Twyla Tharp and Kenneth MacMillan. Subsequently she became Principal Dancer with Eliot
Feld Ballet. Guest artist appearances have included On Your Toes with Natalia Makarova
and as an original cast member of Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Besides being on the ballet
faculty at STEPS on Broadway since 1998, Lisa has taught at American Ballet Theater's School, at
Stamford City Ballet's affiliated school, at Dance New Amsterdam in New York City and for the
summer program at State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara, California.

MEET YOUR MUSICAL THEATER HOST, Diana Laurenson
Diana Laurenson, a veteran Fosse Dancer, has worked in the entertainment
industry for over 26 years as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and
stagehand. Broadway credits include: Sweet Charity, Big Deal, Dangerous
Games, and Gypsy (twice! plus the TV movie starring Bette Midler). She has
also performed on national and international tours of Dancin', West Side
Story, and Anything Goes. Diana was the featured lead Frug dancer in the
concert version of Sweet Charity held at Lincoln Center for BC/EFA/AMFAR,
and has appeared regionally in productions of A Chorus Line, 42nd Street.
and Chicago.
Diana has recreated entire productions of Dancin', Sweet Charity, and West
Side Story (proscenium and "in the round"), is also on the faculty at
Broadway Dance Center and is a guest teacher of theatre dance master classes
for the David Howard Foundation, The London Studio Centre, and the
California Musical Theatre (Sacramento Music Circus)/ Outreach and Education
Dept. She is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association and the Screen
Actor's Guild.
