Steps on Broadway

Performance Lab Information
(Open to everyone. Participants do not have to be associated with Steps)

Philosophy
The Performance Lab Series is designed to provide an opportunity for emerging and established artists from all disciplines to experiment and to experience their work in front of an audience. Dance, music, theatre, performance art and multidisciplinary works are welcome.

The keyword is EXPERIMENT! New, innovative, cutting edge, uniquely daring, finished or unfinished works of art are encouraged.

Artists "test" the results by receiving constructive, confidential written feedback based on audience member's perceptions and reactions to the work. This feedback will be collated and handed to the artist at the end of the performance evening.

Application Procedure
(please hand in/fax/mail everything in at one time)

The performance lab is an application based program and there are a limited number of spaces available for each performance. Early submission of applications is recommended.

To apply please do the following:
  1. Complete an application
  2. Pay a $15.00 non-refundable application fee.
  3. Provide a bio or resume of related creative/performance experience.
  4. Provide a VHS videotape of the work being performed with a completed application. If a videotape is not available, a complete, detailed written description will be necessary.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Once Accepted
Artist pays a non refundable $25.00 lab fee (waived for Steps Faculty and Steps W/S, ISVP and Ensemble students). Artist will then receive an information packet, which includes the specs of the Studio Theatre, a sample audience feedback form, performance instructions and procedures, and tech/program information sheets.
