The School at Steps Academic Year 2008-09 is holding auditions.
Auditions are being held Saturday, July 19th from 10:00-1:00 and Sunday, August 24th from 10:00-1:00.

The School at Steps Summer Intensive is auditioning dancers ages 12-18. Dancers have the option of focusing on ballet or theater dance, during an extensive three week program (Session I: July 7-27, Session II: July 28-August 17). Auditions will consist of a ballet class, followed by pointe, theater dance, jazz and modern. All dancers must audition in ballet and theater dance. Dancers focusing on ballet will be asked to take the pointe class as well.

'TAP KIDS' / INTR TOUR

New York Stage Originals is casting current positions and future replacements for the international touring company of Tap Kids. Director/Choreographer: Lisa Hopkins. Tours the U.K. and Holland Oct-Nov, as well as other domestic touring. Seeking tap dancers, males and females, ages 16-21, exceptional rhythm tap dancers with jazz dance training, great personalities, who improvise, must be quick at learning choreography, basketball skills and acting a plus. Dancers do not have to live in NYC area, but must attend live auditions in NYC. Some pay, meals, travel, and lodging provided.

'HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS,' CHILD DANCERS

Running Subway (prod.) is casting the Broadway and touring productions of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Production is 90 minutes long. Jack O'Brien, creator-super.; Mel Marvin, music; Timothy Mason, book & lyrics; Matt August, dir.; John DeLuca, original choreo.; Bob Richard, co-choreo.; Joshua Rosenblum, music dir.; Telsey + Company, casting. Broadway production schedule and theatre TBD. Tour rehearsals begin approx. Oct. 6 in NYC; opens approx. Nov. 11 in Baltimore, MD & approx. Nov. 26 in Boston, MA; closes Dec. 28. Shows perform 12 times per week; performance schedule will be posted at all auditions.

Seeking-Ensemble Children: boys and girls, 8-14, all ethnicities, energetic, charismatic, athletic, must be experienced dancers who are able to pick up dance quickly, the more physically versatile and acrobatic (balancing, juggling, walking on hands, etc.) the better, must sing well, strong singing voices of all types required, children will be double-cast. Note: Auditions are for two separate productions (Broadway and tour).

Equity chorus call will be held June 11 at 11 a.m. at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26th St. (btwn. Sixth & Seventh aves.), 5th fl., NYC. Equity chorus call procedures are in effect. Come prepared to dance; jazz shoes are appropriate. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song showing range. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Bring pix & r&eacut;sum&eacut;s, stapled together. Open chorus call begins the same day at 1 p.m. at the same location. The producer will run all aspects of this call. Equity chorus call procedures will not be in effect, and no Equity monitor will be provided. Salary level pending for both productions. Equity Special Agreement, approval pending.

'CHILDREN OF EDEN'

Total Teen Productions is casting Children of Eden, a musical based on the book of Genesis. The production will be directed, choreographed, and designed by teenagers. Georgie Simon & Evan Bernardin, dirs. Rehearsals begin the first week of September in Westchester; performs Oct. 24, 25 & 26 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Westchester County.

Seeking-11 Performers: 14-21, all ethnicities, who sing and dance, LEADS; Ensemble: 10-21, all ethnicities, who sing and dance. Note: All roles are available.

Auditions will be held by appt. June 10 & 11, 5-9 p.m. at the Youth Arts Center, 17 Grammercy Place, Thornwood, NY.
