Pieces are selected on their own merit and the overall content of the show to ensure a well-balanced and inspired evening. A limited number of spaces are available for each Lab. Early submission of applications is recommended If your piece is not selected to be presented, please re-submit as every evening is different.

To apply:

  • Complete an application (download online or at front desk)
  • Include a $20 non-refundable application fee with your application
  • Provide a bio or resume of related creative/performance experience
  • Provide a DVD or web link of the work being performed

Incomplete application will not be considered.

Once accepted, artists receive an information packet that includes Studio Theater specs, a sample audience feedback sheet, performance instructions and procedures, and tech/program information form. All forms included in the packet must be returned by the date specified.

General Information:

  • Works should be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 6 minutes.
  • There are no tech or dress rehearsals.
  • During the week prior to the Lab, a complimentary 15-minute spacing rehearsal is available. Sign up is on a first come, first served basis from approximately 9:00-10:00pm.
  • Lighting levels are available, however, cues are not possible.
  • If the music for the work is recorded, artists must provide a CD with only the music to be used. This must be given to the sound technician on the night of the performance. Please bring a backup CD.
  • Tickets are sold the day of the performance on a first come, first serve basis. THERE IS NO RESERVE SEATING.
  • Artists may ONLY photograph/videotape their work. No flash photography is permitted.
  • The Artist or a performer in the work is requested to introduce the work with a brief explanation (1 minute max).
  • Please keep props to a minimum.
  • No nudity allowed.
