AUDIO-VISUAL TECHNICIAN
Purpose:
To maintain the audio/visual equipment at Steps on Broadway (Steps), to ensure effective and efficient audio/visual operations, and to work with Studio Manager and other key staff to support Steps’ mission, vision, and values.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Equipment
- Manage the following equipment, including performing repairs and maintenance when feasible and/or scheduling repairs and maintenance by appropriate service providers:
- Audio/visual equipment for virtual/livestream classes, including lighting
- Stereo equipment and pianos,
- Theatrical lighting and sound equipment.
- Serve as primary contact for all related equipment vendors and contractors.
- Manage the following equipment, including performing repairs and maintenance when feasible and/or scheduling repairs and maintenance by appropriate service providers:
- Staffing
- Train and work alongside A/V assistants
- Classes
- Support teachers and accompanists with using A/V equipment.
- Provide training to teachers and accompanists.
- Serve as audio/visual assistant for classes.
- Events and Performances
- Lead and execute set-up and strike of Studio II/Studio Theater, including lighting, sound, soft goods, tap floor, etc.
- Serve as lighting and sound technician for performances.
- Operations/Facilities
- Open and close the facility as needed.
- Support Operations Director, Studio Manager, and Marketing Director as needed.
- Miscellaneous
- Contribute to daily operations re-cap report.
- Support budgeting process for equipment needs.
- Other duties as requested.
Performance Criteria, including but not limited to:
- Classes and events run smoothly and are successfully executed
- Equipment is well maintained and in good working order, with as little down time as possible
- Demonstrate effective use of resources, including time, money, and materials
- Confidentiality of all Steps constituents is protected
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of audio/visual equipment
- Knowledge of common trouble shooting and preventative maintenance techniques
- Experience working with MindBody, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must exercise good judgment, show initiative, handle sensitive and confidential data in a trustworthy manner
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Discretion, maturity and composure, especially under pressure
- Ability to establish priorities and juggle numerous responsibilities at one time
- Ability to represent Steps in a professional manner
- Ability to work night, weekends, and holidays when needed
- Must be able to lift objects of up to 30 lbs.
Salary range: $20-22/hour

EVENING MANAGER
Purpose:
The key role of the Evening Manager is to assist the Studio Manager and Operations Director with the day-to-day operations and supervision of the studio in the evenings. 3-4 Evenings are expected and may change depending on departmental needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Studio
- Oversee and perform closing tasks and ensure conditions of the facilities, studios, and equipment are consistently clean and presentable.
- Successful execution of assigned elements including but not limited to light building repairs, maintenance, events, and performances.
- The equipment is well maintained and in good working order.
- Contribute to the daily reports to ensure clear communication between staff working on different shifts.
- Delegate and supervise the cleaning staff.
- Resolve any staff conflicts as they arise.
- Assist in the development, communication, and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures.
- Confidentiality of all Steps constituents is protected.

- Communicate daily with Studio Manager and Operations Director about any issues

- Addressing guests, teachers and staff issues in a timely and professional manner
- Support teachers and accompanists with using A/V equipment.
- Provide training to teachers and accompanists as needed.
- Serve as audio/visual assistant when necessary for virtual classes
- Qualifications
- Basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills.
- Knowledge of A/V equipment.
- Knowledge of common trouble shooting and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Good supervisory skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must exercise good judgement, show initiative, handle sensitive and confidential data in a trustworthy manner.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

FACILITY STAFF
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join the Steps on Broadway team. This is a great opportunity for someone that is looking to make a significant impact in a growing organization based in the dance industry. Mid-afternoon and evening shifts are available.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that the studios and studio equipment are clean and well maintained in order to help provide students and teachers with a safe and clean environment
- Work closely and collaboratively with other staff and administration to support the smooth working of the facility
- Clean and stock restrooms & dressing rooms
- Empty trash and recycling
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, and spot-clean studios and common areas
- Assist with special tasks as needed
