June 20, 2019

Don’t get caught at the barre not knowing the latest news! Between Classes is your ultimate guide to all things arts and pop culture. Every Thursday, you can expect a total rundown of the latest happenings and we’ll provide you with the best weekend plans. Let’s get started, shall we?

Akram Khan’s newest work opens at the Shed this weekend. Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise is a commission backed by some pretty impressive creatives. Directed by Chen Shi-Zheng, and performed to Sia music remixed by Bobby Krlic (a.k.a. The Haxan Cloak), this martial arts/ballet is said to happen in and amongst the crowd, as well as above them, using The Shed’s versatile space to the fullest advantage. Find tickets here.

Pilobolus took to the stage at the Joyce Theater this week, as it has every summer for years. If you have yet to see the company perform, treat yourself to a night of physical illusion and feats of pure strength between now and the 29th. Find tickets here.

That’s it for this time! See you next week.
