Tradition. Innovation. Imagination. Grand Canyon University’s Dance Department celebrates creativity and nurtures dreams. Housed within the College of Fine Arts and Production, our department offers bachelor’s degrees in dance and dance for secondary education. Both degrees focus on developing students’ capabilities as artists within dance technique, choreography, pedagogy, history, kinesiology, technology, and somatic practices. The BA in Dance program serves students interested in performance, choreography, and related fields, including dance medicine and worship arts. The BA in Dance for Secondary Education can lead to licensure and includes 100 hours of practice-based experiences in local schools.
Our department’s faculty members are seasoned dance professionals who model the best, and in return, expect the best from students. Through a number of initiatives that extend from the classroom into the local community, our dance students and faculty members match their passion for the arts with a sense of purpose. Each year, GCU students volunteer in dance studios, churches and nonprofit arts organizations throughout Phoenix.
