The Department of Dance at Western Michigan University is dedicated solely to undergraduate dance education, helping students prepare for active, vibrant careers in dance. Students study ballet, jazz, and modern technique to advanced levels; because of this tri-focus emphasis WMU dancers are noted for their strong dance technique as well as their versatility and ability to adapt quickly to today’s contemporary styles. Students learn from today’s leading dance professionals through master classes, residencies, opportunities to perform professional choreography, and trips to major-metropolitan dance centers.
