Bradley Shelver

BRADLEY SHELVER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR originally from South Africa, holds advanced diplomas in tap, jazz and ballet through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in London. He attended the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg and received his South African National Colors in Dance in 1996. He was granted a full fellowship to The Ailey School.

He has danced as a soloist with Alvin Ailey Repertory Company, Elisa Monte Dance, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Limon Dance Company, Metropolitan Opera Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theater in the UK. As a guest artists he performed with opera Singer, Jesse Norman at Carnegie Hall (1999), in the off-Broadway musical, The making of a Perfect Mate (2000), the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and with such companies as The Mark Morris Dance Group, Universal Ballet Company, Lar Lubovich Dance Company, New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble, Eglevsky Ballet, Minnesota Ballet Arts, Nathan Trice Dance, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance and the Francesca Harper Project (performing works by Francesca Harper and William Forsythe). In 2002, he was invited to perform "The Blackbird Solo" choreographed by Jiri Kylian for the 70th Anniversary of Jacobs Pillow as well as works by Angelin Preljocaj and Ohad Naharin. He was a principal dancer and Singer in Javier De Frutos', "Cattle Call" which has toured around the UK in collaboration with Composer, Richard Thomas.

His Choreographic experience includes works for Purchase Conservatory, Long island University, Cedar Lake 2, Svenska Ballet (Goteborg, Sweden), The Dance Umbrella Festival (South Africa), OURE Contemporary Dance (Denmark), MAS Milan (Italy), and works for the Alvin Ailey School, New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble, Cape Dance Company (South Africa), Lustig Dance Theater, Ballet Austin, Periapsis Music And Dance, Sobers/Godley Dance, Compania Rio Danca (Brazil). He has created solo and company works which have premiered in Italy, Israel, Brazil, Denmark, Germany and Sweden. He has conducted solo tours and has been featured in International gala's as a solo performer, including the Solo Tanz Theater Festival in Stuttgart in 2012.

He is co-founder and Artistic Director of Bradley Shelver Contemporary Dance Theater founded in 2003 and is on the teaching faculty of: The Alvin Ailey School (NY), Oure Sports School (Denmark), National School of the Arts (South Africa), Steps on Broadway (NYC), Estemporada Academy (Italy) Labart School ( Napoli), Ials ( Rome), Svenska Balett Skolen (Sweden), London Contemporary Dance School, Millennium School ( London) MAS Academy ( Milan) La Guardia High School for the Arts, Joffrey Ballet School (NY/SF), and has conducted master classes and workshops throughout the US, Europe, South America, Israel and Africa. He is company teacher for Matthew Bourne's 'Adventures in Motion Pictures' and Phoenix Dance Theater (UK). He has taught for the Alteballeto Festival in Italy, ABT's "JKO" School and the Bartholin Ballet Festival at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen and the Laban Centre in London. His Book, "Performance Through The Dance Technique Of Lester Horton", was published in 2013.
