Derek Roland
Derek has served on faculty in New York at the famed Steps On Broadway, Mark Morris Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center, CAP21 Conservatory, and Marymount Manhattan College. He served as a tap dance coach for the Aladdin on Broadway, and his students have performed on Broadway in numerous shows, such as Billy Elliot, 42nd Street, White Christmas, Mary Poppins, Gypsy, Dames at Sea, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera, and The Lion King, and he has trained a number of Radio City Rockettes. His teaching experience includes workshops and master classes at universities and studios across the US, UK, Canada and Germany, including: American Academy of Dramatic Arts; The Broadway Workshop; Niagara University; Nazareth College; Dance Masters of America; New Dance Group Arts Center; Manhattan Dance Project; Peridance; Harbour Dance Center (Vancouver); City Dance Corps (Toronto); Dance Base (Edinburgh); TapBeat (Berlin); and Blue Tap (Berlin).

Derek is a long-standing company member and creator with 3-time Drama Desk nominated Parallel Exit Theater Company in New York City. He co-created and co-choreographed numerous productions with the company, including their original Off-Broadway tap show Time Step at the New Victory Theatre on 42nd Street. Selected performance credits include National Tours of Kiss Me Kate (playing Bill Calhoun), Showboat, Cinderella and Funny Girl, the Italian Tour of West Side Story, and the German Tour of Exit. Tap Dance credits include the NYC Tap Festival, Derick Grant's I Love Tap, Melinda Sullivan's Gone, the Fred Astaire Awards honoring Marge Champion, and the NY Tap Extravaganza honoring Randy Skinner. New York credits include numerous Off-Broadway productions, as well as performances at NY City Center, Town Hall, Lincoln Center, the Alvin Ailey Theater, NY Fringe Festival, American Theater of Actors, The York Theater, The Actors Playground, Merkin Concert Hall, and the New York Musical Theater Festival. Derek is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
