Mikala Sakai, also known as "Mickey", is a native New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. At the age of five she began studying varying dance styles such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Modern until the age of 14 when she began to study and train in Hip Hop. She quickly realized her passion for Hip Hop, and after obtaining her B.A. she continued her training at Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Ailey- Extension Program. In addition to being on faculty at Steps on Broadway, she substitute teaches at Broadway Dance Center and the Alvin Ailey Extension program. Mickey has choreographed for varying teen programs, private dance schools and music videos as well as live performances.
With a visionary gift of movement, Mickey weaves a story through not only the beat, but through her interpretation of the lyrics and the stories they tell.

Adv Beg Hip Hop
This high-energy class develops knowledge of hip-hop and the story it tells through musicality and lyrics. Progress is a process, and in this class we will begin the process and develop a dancers voice! Hip Hop class gives dancers a freedom of expression while learning technique that help define the dance and incorporate performance. This class is a safe place to learn, and grow as a performer in a non-judgment zone.
Street Femme
This fierce high-energy class will help develop a self-confidence, strength, fearlessness and knowledge of varying street styles of dance.
