Study with New York’s Artistic Directors/Choreographers and train with professional dancers.

SUMMER STUDY NYC is total immersion in New York’s contemporary dance world. This audition-based program offers domestic and international intermediate and advanced dancers, ages 18 and older, an opportunity to study and perform under the guidance of some of the best Artistic Directors and Choreographers working today.

Each session students work with a minimum of 9 contemporary artistic directors/choreographers. The program includes the following components:

DAILY TECHNIQUE CLASSES with Steps permanent faculty

STEPS with CONTEMPORARY MASTERS – This annual summer series brings together artistic directors and choreographers for week-long master classes. Improve your technique, explore movement creation, and learn repertory.

CREATIVE TOOLS – Choreographers share their creative process and students learn collaborative approaches to creating movement phrases. Facilitated by Tiffany Rea-Fisher (Artistic Director, Elisa Monte Dance) this workshop culminates in compositions presented in each end-of-semester showcase.

PERFORMANCE SKILLS – Discover practical techniques that enhance a dancers’ artistry in performance. Classes are led by Heidi Latsky and/or Lawrence Goldhuber.

SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE in Steps Studio Theater.

Students from past summers have been hired by Heidi Latsky Dance and performed at Lincoln Center, The Skirball Center, The High Line, as well as awarded apprenticeships with Rioult Dance NY! and Elisa Monte Dance.
