The Carol Paumgarten Fund for Steps on Broadway

Carol Paumgarten

About the Fund

Carol Paumgarten was a shining light that led our way for 40 years. A vibrant soul, her life was filled with grace and dedication to dance. She laid the foundation for Steps to become a pillar of the dance community, a place, where dancers- from the novice to the professional – train, rehearse, congregate, and dream.

The ballerina Misty Copeland at Steps in 2015, called the studio a “dance community staple” that offers dancers “a sense of community, support, love, and unbelievable opportunity.” -Bon Duke for The New York Times

We honor Carol’s legacy by recommitting to our mission; to be the center of excellence in dance training, to maintain the integrity of each dance form, and to serve the needs of dancers of all ages and levels. In our inaugural year, 2021, The Carol Paumgarten Scholarship Fund has awarded over $125,000 in support to dozens of dancers between the ages of 15-24 to pursue their training.

Your generosity offers young, aspiring dancers the opportunity to train with world-class teachers, preparing them for professional life.
