To become a member of the Work/Study Program an interview with the Work/Study Manager is required. Please send or email your performing and work resume, headshot or dance photo, and a completed application to Workstudy@StepsNYC.com. Applications are available online or at the front desk at Steps.
The Work/Study Manager will contact you to schedule your interview. Please bring the following to the interview:
- Proof of citizenship or approved working papers
- A $15 application fee. Please pay the cashier at the front desk before the start of your scheduled interview and present receipt.
WORK/STUDY STUDENTS MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER AND BE A U.S. CITIZEN OR HAVE WORKING PAPERS FROM THE UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICE (USCIS)
After successfully completing the Interview/Orientation process, the student will be scheduled for training. The training is a probationary period during which time the student will be evaluated to establish whether he/she is appropriate for the position and/or program.
Once accepted into the program, the student will be offered available shifts, or if none are available, will be placed on a waiting list for future openings. The number of openings vary from month to month. Once offered a Work/Study position, Steps requires a minimum commitment of twelve weeks. Work/Study students may leave and return to the program on a continuous basis. This flexibility offers tremendous advantage to the working dancer.
