Janice Rosario
Janice Rosario is a nationally recognized contemporary dance choreographer and educator whose work has been commissioned by more than 40 institutions across the United States. A native New Yorker and graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and Hunter College, she trained at Ballet Hispánico, Ballet Academy East, and The Ailey School.
Her choreographic work has been commissioned and presented by Ailey/Fordham University, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, The Ailey School’s Professional Division, University at Buffalo, Newport Contemporary Ballet, Ohio Contemporary Ballet, Dance Kaleidoscope, Vassar College, Barnard College/Columbia University, Hofstra University, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, The Martha Graham School, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Battery Dance Festival, and numerous universities and professional training programs throughout the country.
As an educator, Janice currently teaches at The Ailey School and has taught at The Martha Graham School, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Peridance Center, Gibney, Ballet Hispánico, Harvard University, Barnard College/Columbia University, and dance institutions nationally. Her contemporary practice draws from her extensive foundation in legacy modern techniques while incorporating improvisation, somatic exploration, partnering, and collaborative creative practices.
Class Description
This contemporary dance class explores the intersection of technique, sensation, and dance as an embodied experience. Dancers will move through structured exercises that develop alignment, strength, clarity, and articulate use of the spine, drawing from both classical and modern principles. The class transitions into repertoire that challenges spatial awareness, dynamic range, and emotional presence. Emphasis is placed on individuality—inviting dancers to deepen their connection to movement, meaning, and personal expression.
