Daniel Ulbricht

Daniel Ulbricht is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, known for his virtuosic technique, speed, and vibrant stage presence. Born in Florida, he began dancing at age 11 and entered the School of American Ballet at 15. He became an apprentice with NYCB in 2000, joined the corps de ballet in 2001, was promoted to soloist in 2005, and principal dancer in 2007.

Ulbricht has performed featured roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, and Twyla Tharp, demonstrating a wide-ranging repertoire across classical and contemporary ballet.

In addition to performing, Ulbricht is deeply engaged in teaching and outreach. He serves on faculty at Yale University and is a guest teacher at leading New York institutions including Ballet Academy East and Steps on Broadway. Ulbricht has also hosted and served as creative director and choreographer for both New York City Ballet and New York Philharmonic education programs. He is also the founder and director of Stars of American Ballet, a touring group, who’s mission is presenting dance and masterclasses outside of New York City. Committed to using dance for social impact, Ulbricht is co-founder and co-producer of “Dance Against Cancer” and serves on the board of National Dance Institute.
