PRE-PROFESSIONAL AUDITIONS FOR THE 2026-2027 SEASON 

Pre-Professional Program (ages 10-18, by audition) 

Dates: Sunday March 29

Schedule for March 29: 

ALL AGES:  
1:00-2:00 Steps Academy Q&A with Director 

AGES 14-17 (Loft 3) 
2:00 – 3:00 Ballet
3:00 – 3:30 Pointe
3:30 – 4:00 Jazz
4:00 – 4:30 Hip Hop
4:30 – 5:00 Tap

AGES 10-13 (Loft 4) 
2:00 – 2:30 Tap
2:30 – 3:00 Jazz
3:00 – 3:30 Hip Hop
3:30 – 4:30 Ballet
4:30 – 5:00 Pointe

Registration Instructions 

Price: $50 

  • Create an account or log-in to our online Dance Studio Pro system 
  • Click Register then Classes 
  • Select the Special Events 2026 tab 
  • Select Pre-Professional Division Audition – Ages 10-13 or Pre-Professional Division Audition – Ages 14-17 
  • Read and sign participation waivers 
  • Click Make Payment 
  • Upon the completion of payment details, you will receive a confirmation email from Academy@stepsnyc.com to submit additional audition materials. 

Dress Code

Ballet: 

  • Option 1: Black leotard, pink tights or tights to match complexion, ballet slippers, or pointe shoes to match tights. Black pull-on skirt optional.   
  • Option 2: Black full length t-shirt, black leggings or pants, black socks, and black ballet slippers. 

Jazz/Tap/Hip Hop: 

  • Option 1: Black leotard with black tights, shorts, pants, or leggings.  
  • Option 2: Black full length t-shirt, black leggings, shorts or pants.   

Shoes: Jazz shoes for Jazz, Tap shoes for Jazz, and clean sneakers for Hip Hop

Virtual Auditions for the 2026-2027 Pre-Professional Division 

If you would like to begin the audition process virtually, please fill out this form and upload your photo and solo video. We may then contact you to schedule an in-person callback during our regular weekly classes. 

Solo videos can be a solo choreographed for you, a solo you created, or improvisation. It can be in any genre – whatever you feel best showcases you as a dancer! Solo videos should be between 1-3 minutes long.
