Headshot Felipe Galganni

Originally from Brazil, Felipe Galganni (they/he) has spent over two decades choreographing, producing, performing, and teaching as a tap dancer in New York City and Brazil. A proud non-binary artist, Felipe creates work at the intersection of rhythm, identity, and community, making tap dance a more inclusive and supportive space for queer artists and future generations.

Felipe is a recipient of the Machado de Assis Medal for disseminating Brazilian culture in NYC and the Bistro Award for Unique Jazz Presentation with their BOSSA TAP TRIO. In 2024, they received the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Drag Artist for their groundbreaking show at The Duplex. Their weekly residency, WHO SHE?, continues every Tuesday at 10 PM at this iconic West Village venue.

With millions of views across TikTok and Instagram, Felipe has become a sensation online, collaborating with brands that align with their values of inclusion, queer visibility, and wellness.

Felipe has been a beloved faculty member at Steps on Broadway for nearly 15 years, teaching sold-out weekly classes, and has also instructed at Tap City, Tap Kids, the Joffrey Tap Intensive, Claquette Club in Belgium, as well as at institutions such as Vassar College, Penn State University and The Juilliard School.

They have performed and toured with Grammy-winning artists Tim Kubart & The Space Cadets and legendary Brazilian bassist Nilson Matta, and appeared in works by Brenda Bufalino, Michelle Dorrance, Derick K. Grant, Heather Cornell, Max Pollak, and Lisa La Touche.

As an actor and singer, Felipe has performed in the off-Broadway revival of A Day In Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine at Theatre Row, as Regalo in American Dream at TEATRO LATEA in NYC, and as the Drag Host in the off-Broadway production Little House on the Ferry, where they showcased their talents in singing, tap dancing, and acting in a heartwarming narrative centered on gay rights and love.

Felipe’s drag persona, Xana DuMe—the Tap Dancing Drag Queen, debuted in 2021 and has since taken NYC’s cabaret scene by storm. Xana DuMe has headlined Rhythm in Motion, Tap City (NYC Tap Festival), and the Consulate of Brazil’s LGBTQI+ events. In summer 2025, Felipe traveled to France to perform as Xana DuMe at the renowned queer Cabaret La Sirène à Barbe in Normandy, expanding their international presence and celebrating LGBTQ+ artistry on a global stage.

Felipe’s goal remains clear: to create rhythm-driven, heartfelt work that celebrates diversity, uplifts queer voices, and brings tap dance into new, exciting spaces—both onstage and online.

Class Description
Tap with Felipe Galganni is a dynamic, rhythm-driven class that blends strong technique with rich musicality. Drawing from over 15 years in the NYC dance scene, Felipe shares original exercises he’s developed to train the ear and body in sync, helping dancers become more confident, musical, and expressive performers.

In class, you’ll not only build your foundation—you’ll also learn choreography featured in Galganni’s viral videos, including Fly Me to the Moon (1.4M+ views on Instagram) and Everybody Wants to Rule the World (1M+ views on TikTok). Students occasionally get the chance to appear in these videos and work closely with a professional who’s performed Off-Broadway, with major tap companies, and on stages across the world.

Felipe incorporates a wide range of musical influences into his classes, from traditional swing and Brazilian rhythms to pop music—giving dancers a chance to explore diverse styles and deepen their musical understanding.

Whether you’re training for the stage or just love to move, Felipe’s class offers inspiration, precision, and a whole lot of rhythm. It’s more than a tap class—it’s a full experience.
