Joey Pizzi

Joey Pizzi is an award-winning choreographer with an extensive background working on both stage and screen.
Select films he has choreographed include Disney’s recent live-action THE LITTLE MERMAID, MARY POPPINS RETURNS (Chita Rivera Award, World Choreography Award), BURLESQUE (Astaire Award Nomination), and LUCKY STIFF (Astaire Award Nomination).
Prior to choreographing his own work, Joey is proud to have served as associate choreographer on some of the most iconic movie musicals of the modern era including Oscar winning Best Picture CHICAGO (American Choreography Award), DREAMGIRLS (Choreography In Media Honor), HAIRSPRAY (Choreography In Media Honor), INTO THE WOODS, ROCK OF AGES, and NINE to name a few.
On stage, Joey began his Broadway career as a teenager dancing in the Broadway company of CATS where he performed the principle role of Mr. Mistoffelees. He then went on to do 12 more Broadway shows working his way up from performer to associate choreographer to choreographer in the process. He has also worked on London’s West End and choreographed several shows at prestigious Off-Broadway theaters (LCT, La Mama, NYTW) and regionally (Papermill Playhouse, Old Globe Theatre, Dallas Theater Center).
On television, Joey is proud to have choreographed the world famous Radio City Rockettes for their appearance on ABC-TV’s BROADWAY UNDER THE STARS. Other select television credits include DANCING WITH THE STARS, THE TONY AWARDS, PBS GREAT PERFORMANCES, and GOSSIP GIRL, as well as THE ACADEMY AWARDS and ANNIE both of which were cited with Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography.
Additionally, Joey has contributed choreography or movement direction for music videos, commercials and photo shoots, recently collaborating with legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Joey is a master educator teaching classes all over the world and is extremely proud to have coached the performances of many of the todays top artists including Christina Aguilera, Cher, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Julianne Hough, Kristen Bell, Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, Queen Latifah, John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Zac Efron, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Marianne Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Cumming, Audra McDonald, Liza Minnelli and the dancers of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
