Patrick Garr

Patrick Garr is a New York City-based choreographer, educator, and performer whose work is rooted in contemporary musical theater and jazz styles. Most recently, he served as Associate Choreographer for Disney’s Newsies at The Muny, choreographed by Richard J. Hinds and directed by Denis Jones.

As a performer, Patrick made his Broadway debut as a swing in Mean Girls and toured the country with the Angelica Company of Hamilton: an American Musical, appearing as Samuel Seabury. His additional performance credits include Jerome Robbins’ Broadway and Fiddler on the Roof (The Muny), Hairspray, Hello, Dolly!, White Christmas, 42nd Street, and Fiddler on the Roof (Broadway at Music Circus), and Hello, Dolly!, Billy Elliot, and Big Fish (Music Theatre Wichita).

Patrick’s choreographic work moves between musical theatre, concert dance, and opera. He has assisted choreography for New York City Ballet’s Ashley Bouder Project at The Joyce Theater and has choreographed productions of The Addams Family, It’s a Grand Night for Singing (UK Opera Theater), Thoroughly Modern Millie, Chicago, and Pippin. He was also the Movement Consultant for The Anonymous Lover at Opera Columbus and recently choreographed a piece for I Put a Spell on You.

As an educator, Patrick is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and has also taught for the University of Kentucky Department of Theater and Dance, Groove National Dance Convention, Varsity All Star Dance Competition, Peridance, and many other programs. His classes encourage dancers to connect strong technique with musicality and storytelling. Patrick holds a BA in Musical Theatre from the University of Kentucky
