Alice Baum

Alice Baum is a tap dancer, jazz, and opera singer based in New York City. She began tap dancing at age 5 and had her off-Broadway performance debut with her mentor Brenda Bufalino and Claudia Rahardjanoto at the 13th street YMCA when she was 12 years old. Alice earned her undergraduate degree at Bard College, where she studied voice and started Bard’s first Tap Club. She is an American Tap Dance Foundation Certified Tap Teacher, has been teaching youth classes in New York City since 2024 and led a master class in Brenda Bufalino’s Double Time Series at the Stockholm Tap Festival in 2026.

Alice has had the privilege of studying under many teachers including: Brenda Bufalino, Susan Hebach, Barbara Duffy, Margaret Morison, Michelle Dorrance, Jason Samuel Smith, Claudia Rahardjanoto, Caleb Teicher, and Tamii Sakurai – performing with many of them throughout her career. She has performed at The Guggenheim Museum Theater, Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library, City Center, Symphony Space, Wildheart, The Fisher Center, and other venues in the NY region. Alice has most recently been a guest performer for Felipe Galgani’s one woman drag show Xana DuMe at The Duplex. She brings her rich background in tap history and musicality to each class and challenges her students to think “Swing!”
