The Hope dance program is a place to grow artistically, intellectually, physically and spiritually. We stress rigor and activity, and thrive in the liberal arts environment. It is carefully balanced to provide a foundation in theoretical and technical dance studies, offering opportunities for the individual student to aspire, dream and accomplish. Our program gives students the opportunity to study dance techniques in ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop. Whether you major or minor in dance, you’ll get intense instruction and training, regular participation in performances and endless opportunities to explore every aspect of life alongside a comprehensive dance program. 

Jasmine Mejia

Jasmine Mejia is a choreographer and teaching artist from New York City. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance and Co-Director of H2 Dance Company at Hope College. Jasmine is a recipient of ACDA’s ALVA Award for Choreographic Excellence (2024) and a Towsley Research Scholars Fellowship (2024-2028). Her choreography has been featured Off-Broadway at the Clerman Theatre and in festivals, residencies, and venues nationwide, including the Kennedy Center, Ailey Citigroup Theater, and the Highline Ballroom. Additionally, Jasmine’s films have been screened in various film festivals. Her additional teaching credits include master classes, workshops, and intensives nationwide. As a freelance dancer, Jasmine has performed at venues including Radio City Music Hall and Lincoln Center. She has also performed nationally and internationally as a company member of Von Howard Project, MADArt Creative, LMproject, and Jamal Jackson Dance Company. Jasmine received her MFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University.
