Loyola Marymount University DANCE
Los Angeles, CA
Located in the heart of Los Angeles, LMU Dance is a rigorous, inclusive, and forward-thinking training ground for dancers who want to shape the future of the field. Rooted in LMU’s mission of educating the whole person, LMU Dance is committed to cultivating versatile artists with strong technical foundations, global perspectives, and the creative courage to use dance as a powerful expression of the human experience.
Students choose from three undergraduate degrees tailored to diverse career pathways:
- BA in Dance — a flexible, interdisciplinary degree ideal for double majors and multifaceted artists.
- BA in Dance Pedagogy & Social Action — preparing students to teach, lead, and drive community impact through dance.
- BA in Choreography & Performance — designed for dancers pursuing careers in concert and commercial performance across stage and screen.
All students begin in the BA in Dance and share a common first-year curriculum that builds artistic identity and clear professional direction.
Career preparation is at the core of the LMU Dance distinction. LMU Dance is home to Career Catapult Initiatives, including the Concert Dance Showcase and Commercial Dance Showcase, where industry guests from top concert companies, agents, choreographers, and their teams attend and network directly with students. Following these opportunities, students are signing with leading Los Angeles agencies, booking tours, and being invited to audition for major concert companies.
LMU Dance is powered by a robust guest artist network, bringing nationally recognized choreographers, companies, and industry leaders to campus through residencies, workshops, and multi-visit engagements. The Commercial Dance Program expands professional training even further, offering industry-driven coursework led by Emmy-winning choreographers, Broadway artists, commercial choreographers, assistants and associates, and professionals working across television, film, and major recording artists.
LMU Dance is committed to preparing students for sustainable careers in every corner of dance. Students graduate as adaptable, empowered, and industry-ready artists with the tools, mentorship, and experience to thrive in concert dance, commercial dance, arts leadership, teaching, and beyond.
