Alexei Agoudine
Alexei Agoudine began his ballet career in Moscow’s School of Classical Ballet, where he studied with some of the finest professionals worldwide: Boris Rachmanin, Natalia Zolotova, Alexandra Markeeva and others. He then continued studying at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School, receiving the Rudolf Nurejev award scholarship. There he graduated with honors under the main influence of Ballet master, former Mariinsky Ballet Principal Valentin Onoschko.
Alexei has since danced with American Ballet Theatre (since 2004), Ballet Internationale, Universal Ballet of Korea, New Jersey Ballet Company, and The Suzanne Farrell Ballet to name a few and toured extensively the United States, Japan, China, France, Austria, Korea, Germany, England, Australia, and other.
Alexei is Silver medalist at the 4th International Ballet Competition in Vienna and Bronze medalist at the 7th New York International Ballet Competition.
His versatility has gained him broad repertoire: The Sugar Plum Fairy Cavalier, Drosselmeyer, Spanish, Chinese, Arabian and Russian dances in the Nutcracker, Prince Siegfried, Pas de Trois, Czardas in Swan Lake, Peasant Pas de Deux, Hillarion, and Wilfred in Giselle, Bottom in The Dream, Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia, Kashchei in The Firebird, Romeo, Escalus, Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet in Romeo & Juliet, Magedavea and Rajah in La Bajadere, Doctor and Cook in Whipped Cream, Czar Dodon in the Golden Cockerel, Gamache in Don Quixote; Principal and solo roles in Allegro Brillante, Manon, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Theme and Variations, Tempest, Bright Stream, Petrushka, Sinfonietta, Peter Pan, Creation of the World, Bach Partita; “The Fairy Doll Pas de Trois, Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, Cermesse in Bruges, Raymonda, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Playing Field, A Thousand and one Nights and many others.
Alexei has created roles in works by Alexei Ratmansky and Kevin McKenzie and danced repertory by a wide range of choreographers: Kurt Joss, Twyla Tharp, Benjamin Millepied, Christopher Wheeldon, Jiri Killian, George Balanchine, Aszure Barton, Martha Clarke, John Neumeier, Frederik Ashton, Kenneth MacMillan, Anthony Tudor, Agness deMille, Eldar Aliev, Natalia Kasatkina, Vladimir Vasilev, Lar Lubovitch, Mark Morris, John McFall, James Kudelka, August Bournonville, Marius Petipa, Natalia Makarova, Vladimir Malakhov, Ronald Hynd, Fleming Flindt, Michail Fokine, John Cranko and others.
Alexei is a company teacher with American Ballet Theatre. He is also fully ABT NTC certified, occasionally teaching at the Jacqueline Onassis School of American Ballet Theatre. He has been a guest instructor at studios across the Unites States and Canada.
Mr. Agoudine has presented choreographies throughout his career, in New York City notably “Rusty Romance” with Nomad Contemporary Ballet.
Hofstra University has created its Student Counseling Services Exercise Program entirely to music by Mr. Agoudine.
