Alice Everett Cox

Alice Everett Cox danced professionally in New York for eight years before spending ten years on the faculty of Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle, Washington. Her New York credits include: a film directed by Sir Richard Attenborough, A Chorus Line, the Movie; MTV videos with artists Billy Idol and Natalie Cole; Broadway shows with world-renowned choreographers Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins.

In Bob Fosse’s revival of Sweet Charity, Alice rehearsed with Bob Fosse himself to perfect her role as the lead dancer in “The Rich Man’s Frug,” and as the waving dance hall hostess in “Big Spender.” As one of the founding cast members of Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, Alice spent six months training with Mr. Robbins before the show opened in New York at the Imperial Theatre. She was featured as a soloist in the “Somewhere Ballet” and as one of the three original “Cool Girls” in the anthology of the great choreographer’s work.

Alice’s Seattle performance credits include principal dance roles in productions of Lakme and Aida with the Seattle Opera; guest performances with Olympic Ballet Theatre; and a dance segment on the TV series, Northern Exposure.

Alice studied ballet and contemporary dance at the School of American Ballet in New York City, San Francisco Ballet School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Maggie Black in New York. She has taught ballet and jazz classes at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Florida State University, Syracuse University and Cornish College of the Arts. She also choreographed for SD Prism Dance Theatre, ARC Dance Productions the Seattle Theatre Group. While teaching and choreographing in Seattle, Alice attended Seattle University and graduated with a degree in chemistry. She currently teaches Advanced Placement Chemistry at Lowndes High School and ballet at Dance Arts in Valdosta, Georgia.
