Funmi Sofola

Funmi Sofola (She/Her) is an NYC-based multidisciplinary dancer, originally from Seattle, WA. She is an alum of the 2017 and 2021 Jacob’s Pillow Tap Program, a 2018 YoungArts Winner with Distinction, and a Pace University BFA Commercial Dance graduate with a Minor in Arts and Entertainment Management. While earning her degree, she enjoyed opportunities to perform works by Lisa La Touche, Al Blackstone, LaTasha Barnes, Dominique Kelley, Lauren Gaul, and Rhonda Miller.

Funmi has performed with artists and dance companies that include Caleb Teicher & Company, Demi Remick and Dancers, Elements of Sound (Dir. Sydney Burtis), Jessie Sawyers, Portland Tap Company (Dir. Kelsey Leonard), and Alchemy Tap Project (Dir. Josh Scribner). In addition to performing, Funmi has found joy in teaching and choreography. She’s had the privilege of presenting her work at Symphony Space New York for the 2023 Young Choreographer’s Festival and choreographing for Pace University (FTVC). She is currently on faculty with Concepts Dance Academy and MindBuilders Creative Arts Center.

Through continued exploration, Funmi seeks to refine her work and evolve her stylistic expression. She is inspired by music, culinary pursuits, Kurzgesagt videos, and all that brings her joy.
