Jillian Vanstone

As a Principal Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada, Jillian Vanstone was celebrated as a versatile performer whose repertoire spanned the 19th century classics, the masterworks of the 20th century, and new ballets by some of today’s leading choreographers.

Her experience includes leading roles in the works of Ashton, Hynd, MacMillan, Balanchine, Neumeier, Nureyev, Forsythe, Kyliàn, Kudelka and Wheeldon. She is best known for her interpretation of Alice in Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland which she danced in the North American Premiere in Toronto, and which she opened at Lincoln Center in New York and The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. In March of this year Vanstone retired from The National Ballet of Canada dancing Wheeldon’s After the Rain and has been developing her skills as a stager and coach, most recently at Hamburg Ballet staging Wheeldon’s The Winter’s Tale.
