Joe Davis

Headshot Joe Davis

Joseph was born and raised in the beautiful hills of upstate New York, and can be easily identified from a distance by his cacophonous laughter. He began his studies at The Draper Center for Dance Education in Rochester, New York, and continued to The Juilliard School under direction of Lawrence Rhodes on tuition scholarships from The NYCDAFoundation and Cornell University.

During the years of his training he performed works by Jíri Kylián, Crystal Pite, Nacho Duato, Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot, Kyle Abraham, Shannon Gillen, Twyla Tharp, and Camille A. Brown. He has had the privilege of traveling to Algeria twice as a cultural ambassador for the arts representing The United States in the International Modern Dance Festival.

Joseph has performed with Brian Brooks Moving Company at New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival, and in Kate Weare’s residency at BAM Fisher Hall. He has taught internationally in the cities of Jakarta and Hong Kong, and has taught master classes at universities such as Loyola Marymount University, Chapman University, Santa Monica College and UCLA.

Joseph is now a member of the LA based contemporary dance company, BODYTRAFFIC, performing pieces by renowned choreographers Hofesh Shechter, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Barak Marshall, Arthur Pita, Victor Quijada, Matthew Neenan, Sidra Bell and Richard Seigal.
