Mami Tomotani

Mami Tomotani was born in Fukuoka, Japan, training at Kawazoe Ballet School (Fukuoka) and Shiki Academy (Tokyo).

She has worked with Matthew Bourne since 1999 for New Adventures, including principal roles. Productions included the TONY award winning Swan Lake, Nutcracker!, The Car Man, Highland Fling and Edward Scissorhands which won the 2007 New York Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Theatrical Event. She recently performed in Sleeping Beauty in the USA and Asian tour.

She performed in The King and I, London and was also a member of Landestheater Ballet Linz, Austria and Shiki Theatre Company. Her credits included CATS (Bombalurina & Victoria), Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love and HANS (Andersen). She has performed for Suisei company in FAME playing Iris Kelly.

Mami has a varied and comprehensive array of choreography credits. She has taught internationally within the community and for professional companies alongside being rehearsal assistant for Matthew’s Dorian Gray, Japan 2013.
