Marika Matuszak
Marika Matuszak is originally from Binghamton, NY where she trained at the Perkins School of the Arts. At 18, she moved to New York City to join the Commercial Dance program at Pace University. She graduated from Pace University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Commercial Dance and an Arts & Entertainment Management minor. While at Pace, she trained and performed with renowned choreographers such as Rhonda Miller, Scott Jovovich, Jess Hendricks, Martha Nichols, Lauren Gaul, Joey Dowling, and Ginger Cox. Marika currently teaches at additional studios in the greater NYC area and is the event manager for New York City Dance Alliance.
Marika has performed at the Park Avenue Armory Gala under the direction of Larry Keigwin as a dancer for the Young Professionals band. She has also performed with the modern company Phoenix Project Dance Theater under the direction of Amber Perkins based in Upstate NY. Marika was the assistant choreographer to Alex Sanchez and Lainie Sakakura on the Golden Gate Theatre’s production of Roman Holiday. Marika’s choreography has been showcased in Emergence Choreography Show and in Pace University’s Production of the Pajama Game where she assisted Scott Jovovich. Marika has taught jazz, ballet, contemporary, and musical theatre at studios in the greater New York City area for several years. She has additionally been on faculty at summer intensives and has set choreography at many studios. Her teaching style focuses on teaching fundamental technique, performance quality, and individual growth.
