Michael Cherry

Michael Cherry has been active throughout the Americas, Europe and China, both as soloist and with the orchestra. He is also one of the most resourceful and sought after pianists in the world of dance. He has performed with and accompanied dance companies and artists, including: The American Ballet Theatre, the Limon Dance Company, Anna Sokolow, Eliot Feld’s ‘Kid’s Dance’, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Richard Thomas, Antoinette Peloso and Gelsey Kirkland. Additionally he performed in the PBS Special, “Performance at the White House” with the Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Mr. Cherry holds a Master of Music Degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music. He was a recipient of the BMI Student Composers Award and received the Columbia University Scholarship / Sessione Sienese Per La Musica / Siena, Italy. His teachers include Charles Wuorinen (composition) and William Daghlian (piano).
