Mickey Nixon
From Memphis,TN, by way of Vallejo, CA, Mickey began performing theatre at the age of 8 in both community & professional theatre spaces. He began formal acting and dance training at 18 while at Jackson State University with some additional training at the University of Memphis. Before and upon graduation from undergrad, he began dancing professionally in 2014, having danced with OutLoud Artistry, Bridging Souls Productions, Afro’Dance NY, Eden Arts, Inc., New Ballet Ensemble & School, Paul Mitchell’s World of Dance, Carnival, the film Get On Up with the late Chadwick Boseman, and operas including Aida and Fire Shut Up In My Bones.
Since transitioning to NYC, Mickey has been a scholarship student with Jennifer Muller/The Works, taught classes at NYU, Broadway Dance Center, BAM, Ailey Extension, Peridance, & prep schools/ dance programs across the 5 boroughs, has opened for Burna Boy at Madison Square Garden, and choreographed/ danced in music videos for emerging artists throughout the city. Mickey has also received national nominations for best lead and supporting actors by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and regionally by the Diversity of Stage and Theatre Awards, the Carbonelle Awards and BroadwayWorld. Mickey’s concert dance credits include works by Francesca Harper, Camille A. Brown, Elizabeth Corbett, Jennifer Muller, Chloe Davis, Toni Pierce-Sands, Lloyd Culbreath, Nijawwon Matthews, Angel Kaba, Luis Salgado, Brian Harlan Brooks, General MacArthur Hambrick, Mark Allan Davis, Wayne Smith, Nseeka McPherson, and Jill Guyton-Nee. @mickemnix
