Steps Conservatory Alum Svetlana Khoruzhina

Svetlana Khoruzhina is a choreographer, dancer, and educator originally from Moscow, Russia, who has been based at various times in Paris and New York City. She is a graduate of IFPRO Rick Odums and the Steps on Broadway Conservatory Program.

Svetlana is recognized for her work in U.S. musical theatre, with credits including the national tour of PIPPIN, as well ascregional productions of CHICAGO (Hunyak) and SWING! The Musical.

In Russia, she is known as a musical theatre choreographer, with acclaimed productions such as CABARET, FRANKENSTEIN, and THE JUNGLE BOOK. Her choreographic work also extends to television, with appearances on major projects like Dancing with the Stars, THE BIG MUSICAL, and BIG JAZZ.

A dedicated jazz dance educator, Svetlana regularly teaches master classes and delivers lectures on musical theatre history, supporting the dance and theatre community in Moscow. She is the founder and artistic director of JAZZ LAB, a company committed to promoting theatrical jazz dance as a living art form.

With deep respect for the legacy of jazz dance, Svetlana strives to create work that is both rooted in tradition and boldly contemporary — reimagining theatrical jazz for today’s stage and audience.
