Sydney Manno is a New York City–based multi-hyphenate artist: dancer, choreographer, educator, and founder of “Storytelling with Sydney,” a creative class space blending poetry, community, and choreography to explore meaningful stories through movement. Her recent sold-out production, “GREEN,” premiered at Arts on Site and featured choreography, poetry, live music, and a 12-minute dance revue she conceived, choreographed, and directed.

This spring, she served as associate choreographer for Zoje Azeke’s debut full-length work, “FITNESS,” created for students of Barnard College at Columbia University, where she also works as substitute dance faculty.

Sydney is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she majored in Musical Theatre. In the spring semester of her senior year, she choreographed a mainstage production. Her story-driven choreography earned her a position as an Instructor of Theatre & Production Choreographer at the world-renowned Interlochen Arts Camp. Her joy-centered choreography for the students of Interlochen captured the attention of two Broadway veterans who invited her to assist them on a production of “Jersey Boys” at The Cape Playhouse. That job brought her to New York City, and she never looked back.

She is a graduate of Broadway Dance Center’s Professional Semester program. As a dancer, she has performed for notable choreographers such as Zoje Azeke, Courtney Darlington, Emily Greenwell, Nick Palmquist, and Rachel Dolan.

As an educator, she regularly teaches at Broadway Dance Center, Interim Dance, and The Studio at Hoboken. She also teaches creative movement at Little Ones Early Childhood Learning Center and has a gift for connecting with students of all ages—from preschoolers to professional dancers, to adult beginners, and every artist in between.

Her choreography has been seen on stages across New York, including the world-famous Joyce Theatre in partnership with the Young Choreographer’s Festival, and on many phone screens around the world, with several of her choreography posts reaching viral global audiences.

Through collaborative performance and education, Sydney builds spaces where movement and storytelling connect artists and audiences alike.

Upcoming/Recent credits include: choreographer for Footloose at James Madison University (dir. Kate Lumpkin), choreographer for ClubNYC at 3DollarBill, and lead actor & writer for Courtney Darlington & Jenni Poole’s original work, Call Your Local Lesbian.
