Current Opportunities:

STEPS ON BROADWAY BUSINESS MANAGER

Classifications: Full-time, Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director (ED)
In-person position
Salary Range: $68K-75K

ABOUT THE ROLE:

To execute all accounting functions for Steps Studios, Inc (Steps); to work with the ED and other key staff to support Steps’ mission, vision and values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bookkeeping:

  • Accurately maintain books for Steps using QuickBooks software
  • Payables/Disbursements – record all invoices and requests for disbursements in Payables, including petty cash. Prepare disbursements based on available cash and age of invoices; draft disbursements checks. Prepare and distribute 1099s.
  • Receivables/Cash Receipts – record all invoices/pledges and cash receipts. Maintain schedules of accounts receivable and prepare periodic invoices.
  • Cash Flow Management – Work with the ED to monitor cash flow and make recommendations for accessing credit.
  • Reconciliations – manage and perform all reconciliations (MindBody database, bank statements, credit cards, etc.). Submit all reconciliations to ED for review.
  • Monthly/Year-End Close – support ED in the close of monthly and annual accounting cycle.
  • Budget – support ED in creating annual budget; enter budget into QuickBooks
  • Reports – create and distribute reports.
  • Oversee the fiscal integrity of the company including the preparation of the annual budget with the AD, manage cash flow and financial projections, create and distribute financial reports, and ensure financial accountability throughout the company

Human Resources:

  • Payroll – prepare and process weekly payroll and tax filings/payments. Maintain schedule of required payroll deductions for each employee and draft related disbursements. Distribute paychecks. Post payroll in QuickBooks. Maintain employee records in payroll system, including set-up and termination.
  • Manage Steps benefits program (including but not limited to health insurance, life and disability insurance, workers compensation, etc.).
  • Oversee and manage human resources functions including recruitment, hiring, terminations, employee relations, compliance, etc.
  • Administration – Negotiate, execute, and manage all contracts. Work with the AD to develop and implement all policies and procedures. Responsible for risk management. Oversee outside professional services (information technology, legal, accountants, etc.).

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

  • Accounting transactions and payroll are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Reports are prepared and distributed in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate effective use of resources, including time, money, and materials
  • Demonstrate mastery of QuickBooks
  • Strict adherence to finance policies
  • Protect the confidentiality of all Steps constituents

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Experience working with QuickBooks; expertise in MS Word and Excel
  • Human resources expertise and knowledge of best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must exercise good judgment, show initiative, handle sensitive and confidential data in a trustworthy manner
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Discretion, maturity and composure, especially under pressure
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage numerous assignments at one time
  • Minimum five years bookkeeping experience required
  • Ability to represent Steps in a professional manner

FACILITY STAFF

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join the Steps on Broadway team. This is a great opportunity for someone that is looking to make a significant impact in a growing organization based in the dance industry. Mid-afternoon and evening shifts are available.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that the studios and studio equipment are clean and well maintained in order to help provide students and teachers with a safe and clean environment
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other staff and administration to support the smooth working of the facility
  • Clean and stock restrooms & dressing rooms
  • Empty trash and recycling
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, and spot-clean studios and common areas
  • Assist with special tasks as needed
