COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT/AT HOME IN KC Kansas City is home to a thriving arts community that fosters creativity and collaboration. Many professional performance opportunities are available to dance students through local groups, including the Kansas City Ballet and the Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company. Students also have opportunities to dance in premier venues, including the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Folly Theater, Coterie Theatre and Unicorn Theatre.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES Dance students have prolific performance opportunities on and off campus. Concerts featuring solo and ensemble dance are presented each semester, as well as senior capstone recitals where dancers present their own choreography. Through the Great Works Projects, students also have opportunities to perform in masterpieces such as George Balanchine’s Serenade and Paul Taylor’s Aureole. At the annual Crescendo concert, the Conservatory fosters collaboration through interdisciplinary performances with the music department.
