Headshot Amy Mitchell

Amy Mitchell is a captivating dancer and choreographer originally from Stamford, CT, who now proudly calls Brooklyn home. After graduating from Cornell University and moving to New York City to pursue a career in finance, Amy’s path took a transformative turn when she enrolled in her first hip-hop class—igniting a passion that would ultimately redefine her future.

Motivated by her love of the art form, Amy trained at esteemed institutions including Alvin Ailey, Steps on Broadway, Peridance Capezio Center, Broadway Dance Center, and more. This training allowed her to refine her craft and explore a wide range of dance styles. Her talent and dedication have led to performances with notable live productions and networks such as BET, Good Morning America, Broadway Bares, and Ladies of Hip-Hop.

Amy’s experience extends beyond the stage, as she has also made her mark on camera. She has choreographed and performed in a variety of music videos, collaborating with artists like Vanessa Williams, 3ee, Kinnecom, and others to bring their creative visions to life. In addition, she creates original dance visuals—movement-driven works in which she choreographs, directs, and performs—crafting each piece from concept to completion.

A passionate and respected educator, Amy teaches adult hip-hop and street styles at renowned institutions such as Steps on Broadway and Alvin Ailey. She also works with aspiring young dancers as a faculty member at Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), and has previously taught at the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center (DSPAC), Ifetayo Cultural Arts, and other youth programs.

Through dance, Amy strives to create empowering, inclusive spaces for self-expression—encouraging growth, confidence, and personal transformation in everyone she moves with.
