Dana Moore
Broadway Legend, DANA MOORE, has worked on Broadway for over 35 years. She is ‘the genuine article’ Fosse dancer having worked alongside Bob Fosse in DANCIN’ (Trumpet Solo) and SWEET CHARITY ’86 revival (Rich Man’s Frug, The Ponytail Girl).
Dana is an original Master Teacher of the Fosse legacy of work sanctioned by the Verdon Fosse Legacy Estate. She has taught the Fosse style and reconstructed Fosse works all over the world (notably aside Ann Reinking for the Royal Danish Ballet) and right here in New York City, the FX miniseries FOSSE/VERDON where she coached Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell as well as reconstructed the iconic BIG SPENDER number from the film version of SWEET CHARITY.
Other Broadway greats Moore has worked with are Michael Bennett and Bob Avian A CHORUS LINE (Sheila), Tommy Tune’s THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES, Donald Sadler and Peter Martins’ ON YOUR TOES, Graciela Daniele’s DANGEROUS GAMES, Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking’s FOSSE and Ann Reinking and Walter Bobbie’s CHICAGO, to name a few.
Moore is on faculty at Marymount Manhattan College (Musical Theatre BFA Program) and guest faculty at BDC, Ailey, MMAC, PACE University, The Neighborhood Playhouse and Jacob’s Pillow.
Since 2003, Dana has taught Classic Theatre Jazz at STEPS ON BROADWAY. She teaches a comprehensive warmup which includes classic jazz, ballet, strength and alignment, jazz port de bras and classic jazz isolations. (And, of course, a few bad jokes peppered in). Drawing on her wealth of experience in the Musical Theatre world, she will have you dancing a wide range of choreographic styles.
For Dana, the classroom is a safe and sacred environment where hard work is taken seriously, without taking yourself too seriously. A space for any and every individual student to work and grow confidently and consciously to the best of their ability. A safe space to embrace and value the process rather than the ‘product’.
