John Leggio is a director, choreographer and creator who has conceived original large scale productions ranging from holiday spectaculars, cirque-inspired theatrical experiences, Las Vegas revues and classic book musicals throughout the U.S.

He has had the pleasure of performing in some of Broadway’s biggest musicals including the original production of CATS (Bwy), My Fair Lady (Bway), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (National Tour), Showboat (National Tour), and in countless hit stage productions.

John served as Artistic Director for the Show Palace Theatre, in Hudson, Florida for three seasons where he directed/choreographed Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, And The World Goes ‘Round, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Swing, Man of La Mancha, La Cage Aux Folles, and Hello Dolly to name a few. He received the “Best Choreographer Award,” from the Tampa Bay Times, for an original show he also starred in at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (now the Straz Center) where he was the Resident Choreographer.

John has taught and choreographed at Steps on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center, the Joffrey Ballet School, Marymount Manhattan College and Montclair State University. Most recently he was a headliner at the Congresso Jazz Dance Festival in Brazil, Broadway Dance Center in Tokyo and the American Academy of Ballet’s Summer Gala.

Class Description:

John’s classes and choreography are a unique fusion of the greats of the past to the current styles of today. His forty-minute warm up consists of Classical Jazz, Modern and Ballet, that build strength, technique, flexibility, and style. Following his warm up, dancers are given short dance progressions at center and across the floor, connecting turns, jumps, kicks and weight transfer combinations. Classes are fun, challenging, and dancers are always left feeling accomplished and inspired!
