Headshot Sam Lobel

Sam Lobel is a NYC based choreographer and dancer who teaches jazz, contemporary, and theater dance at Steps On Broadway. She has presented her choreography at the Young Choreographer’s Festival, Sybarite Love is Love, NACHMO, DUMBO Dance Festival, Uptown Rising Performance Series and more as well as producing, directing, and choreographing her own dance narrative titled “Love, In Time.”
She was a dancer in I Put A Spell On You benefitting the Ali Forney Center, the Nordstrom BP Pride campaign, and workshops for Titanic and Ragtime (NYCC Encores) and Houdini and Premiere on the MSC Meraviglia and Seascape Ships (RWS). She has also worked with choreographers such as Nicholas Palmquist, Reed Luplau, Marc Kimelman, Danny Mefford, Mike Baerga, Brianna Mercado,

and Krystyna Resavy.

Sam creates an inclusive environment for all dancers to push themselves to their highest potential while also enjoying every second of the process. She encourages the students to feel comfortable in their own bodies while being confident in their own movement and abilities. The class begins with a warm-up to get your body moving. Technique as well as flexibility is worked on in addition to performance and mindfulness. The choreography may have elements of contemporary, street, or theater dance within it, but it is always based in jazz technique. Sam believes that art requires vulnerability, and she offers a space to explore, play, and try new things!

Whether Sam is teaching, taking, or filming a class at Steps, she is so grateful to be a part of the incredible space and loves sharing it with others.
